A Look At The History Of Jean Paul Gaultier Perfume
You may have seen the trademark bottle. A female torso, decorated and adorned. This is the packaging that many people associate with Jean Paul Gaultier perfume. There are actually thirty nine perfumes that make up the complete line of this designer's scents. They include scents for men and for women. Although the earliest perfume, Classique, was released in 1993 in the now famous torso style bottle and most of the perfumes still play on that packaging theme somewhat they now come in other styles of packaging as well.
The perfumes come in a wide range of scents and are known for their surprising combinations of ingredients . All of the scents are produced by Beaute Prestige International (BPI). This company is actually a division of Shisheido, a Japanese company that also produces scents for a number of other designers.
All perfumes are made up of a top note, the scent that you notice first, middle notes and a base. The middle notes and base tend to be the scents which last longest and knowing what all of these are for the perfumes you are considering is an important part of choosing a perfume that you will enjoy the entire time you are wearing it.
The first perfume was originally called JP Gaultier Eau de Parfum but is now called Classique. It is an Oriental floral that includes top notes of rose and anis. After these fade, the middle notes of orange blossom and ginger bring an Oriental feel to the scent. Long after these have faded, the base notes of vanilla and amber will remain. It was incredibly popular and was followed by the men's perfume Le Male in 1995. Le Male also had an Oriental feel to it and a bottle designed to look like a male torso.
Jean Paul Gaultier tends to release scents that are variations of original perfumes. For example, Classique had a number of variations. These were also released in the famous female torso bottles and all had variations of the frosted glass to differentiate them from one another. A total of fifteen variations of Classique have been placed on the market.There is also the Le Male line which has a total of 11 variations. They have all been released in a bottle which is the male equivalent of the Classique packaging. These are quite popular.
Other lines include the Ma Dame scent which has been aimed at younger customers. A total of four variations are available. The packaging is a play on the torso bottle but the bottle itself is not torso shaped. The first scent in the Ma Dame series was released in 2008.
